  Sausage onion cornbread recipe

Sausage onion cornbread recipe with chopped onion, butter, and sausage.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt sausage cornbread recipe
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk, or use light sour cream or plain yogurt
  • 8 ounces bulk sausage

PREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 350°.

In a medium bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and soda. Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
