TRY VICKY'S

 HOMEMADE BAKE BEANS

AND FORGET THE CAN!

1 pound of  Navy beans

1 teaspoon of salt

2 tablespoons of molasses

1/2 cup of brown sugar

1/2 pound of  salt pork or bacon (optional), you can use smoke turkey necks.

1 chopped onion

1 teaspoon of dry mustard

4 cups of water

 

Wash beans. Mix beans with rest of ingredients in slow cooker on low setting for 8-12 hours or overnight. Ketchup or tomato juice may be used for 1 cup of Liquid.  For each additional pound of beans, use only 2 cups of water.

  Baked

CHICKEN and RICE

 

*Family pack of chicken, about 6-8 pieces

*Season with a little seasoning salt and pepper

*Sprinkle or spread chicken base on each piece of chicken

*Smother chicken with onions about 2 med. or 1 large

*Melt margarine or butter, one stick, and pour over chicken

 

*Bake covered at 350 for about 1 hour and 20 minutes or until done.

 

*After chicken is done, take out of pan and use the essence or pot liquid to cook rice in.

 

*Rice- Follow instructions for cooking rice. Use the pot liquid in place of water.
